FRIENDS OF BISQUINES AND VIEUX CANCALE
Created in October 1973, the association of Friends of Bisquines and Old Cancale, has more than 200 members, making it the first cultural association in Cancale. The safeguarding of the still existing maritime heritage, the preservation of it and the publication of local history were the main axes. They have evolved with time and circumstances.
In 1982, under the leadership of the association and the municipal will, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions opened its doors after major work in the old Saint-Méen church. Residents bring objects which are exhibited in rooms that quickly become too narrow. The space is expanded for the first time, then a second in 2022 to accommodate the Sculpted Woods of Abbé Quémerais.
The museum, with a surface area of 600 m2, represents a certain attraction for Cancale's tourism. The association, which manages it, is also active in organizing conferences in Cancale and beyond. She participates in major events such as the Telethon, the Bordées de Cancale, and ensures a presence in various events.
